Creating an environment for employees to generate success is a priority. Explore various management theories and their common themes. Study pathways and pitfalls of individual personality styles  and examine the natural conflicts that can occur in communication among people with differing styles. In this course, you will learn how to examine the role of ethics in exemplary leadership, and discuss the four leadership styles related to the Situational Leadership Model. Examine and discuss what makes a high-performance team. Recognize that every move the individual makes affects the group and final outcomes. Acknowledge that the challenge is for the team to make quality decisions while confronting everyday organizational problems.

Parking professionals have considerable influence on their facilities and operations.   Every planning, purchasing, and operational decision has multiple effects on efficiency, return on investment, technology, business intelligence, skills sets, operations and general management, liabilities and risks, crisis and disaster management, health and safety, and the environment.  By participating in this course, you will learn how to examine big data and its relevance while exploring data analytics. Illustrate elements of risk management and identify liabilities. Recognize the fundamentals of bond financing, raising capital, and analysis of fundamental financial statements and reporting requirements for municipal, university, and government reporting. Examine sustainability strategies such as transportation demand management.

Parksmart Advisors (formerly Green Garage Assessors) lead clients through the certification process for sustainable parking structures. The Parksmart program (formerly Green Garage Certification) is now offered by the USGBC/GBCI alongside the suite of LEED and various sustainability rating systems. IPI is the USGBC Education Partner providing the education required to earn this valuable certificate. The course offers a deep-dive into the specific management, programmatic, technological, and structural elements of certification. The course equips you with the knowledge to lead a facility through the Parksmart program, including how to evaluate a parking facility and the process and procedures for submitting facilities for certification.

APO Site Reviewer Training 
1 Day Pre-Conference Course

The Accredited Parking Organization (APO) Program establishes a benchmark of the quality by which a parking management organization conducts its business and maintains its facilities and services. Site Review is a required component for applicant organizations, and must be completed by an IPI-approved Site Reviewer who has successfully completed this training.  APO Site Reviewers are solely trained by IPI to evaluate organizations pursuing accreditation under the program. This course will cover quality management and continuity of applying best practices to each site, determining evidence to satisfy the standard, and the role and ethical expectations of an APO site reviewer.  Participants receive a copy of The APO Manual for Applicants and the matrix, a planning tool for implementation.
